Year 6 homework
At Riverside Academy, children in Key Stage 1 and 2 receive weekly homework. This homework can be completed in your child's home learning book. Please speak to a member of your child's teaching team if support is needed with homework.
Please encourage your child to read at least three or four times a week in order to foster a love of reading. Any books, magazines, newspapers they read should be noted in the Reading Records.
As directed by their class teacher children are expected to know their year group multiplication tables and respective facts. Children need to practice at home the current multiplication/division for a weekly test.
Your child will be taught and tested on a focussed spelling skill each week in school. A list of weekly spellings will be sent home and your child can practise these at home if they wish but this is not compulsory.
Alternate weekly Maths or English Homework
To consolidate your child's class learning, a piece of Maths or English homework will be set each week by their class teacher.
Additional learning challenges
Each term, your child will receive a homework sheet detailing the optional learning challenges. If your child wishes to complete these additional pieces of homework, this will enhance their learning further.
