Week 9 home learning

Hello Year 5,

It was great to catch up with many of you last week on the phone. For those of you that I wasn’t able to speak to, I will be ringing at the start of this week so hopefully I’ll get to hear about what you’ve been up to too!

I have really enjoyed planning the history this week. It is about the Maya number system (which is quite different to our number system). Your learning not only involves history but also applying maths skills! Next week it gets slightly trickier as we work with larger numbers but we do like a maths challenge in Year 5!

In geography we are learning about the different layers of the rainforest. Remember to post your diagrams on our Facebook page if you are able to. I’m really looking forward to seeing them.

I found science really interesting when reading about how Aristotle came up with the theory that the Earth is a spherical shape. Many years ago (before space travel) people thought that the Earth was flat.

Take care and stay safe,

Miss Davies 😊
