Week 13 home learning
Hello Year 5!
I hope you have enjoyed the beautiful weather over the last few days after such a wet start to last week. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in September when you come back as Year 6 and I know that the Year 6 teaching team are looking forward to seeing you also! It really has been so much fun being your class teacher again and I have really enjoyed seeing the progress that you have made since Year 2.
This week in English you will be learning about what is known by characters by retrieving details and examples from the text. You will be also learning how direct speech conveys characters and, for your writing challenge, you have another animation to watch, this time it is about a windmill farmer.
In maths you will be continuing to work with decimal numbers using all four operations. When multiplying and dividing the decimal numbers, think back to the learning we did at the start of spring term when we were multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. What were the rules?
In RE you will be learning about the story of Bilal, the first Muezzin and Maya gods in history. This week we also have some French learning. Not only will you be able to ask people what hobbies they like but you will also be able to give your opinion on a range of different hobbies.
Take care and stay safe Year 5,
Miss Davies 😊
