Homework
At Riverside Academy, children in Key Stage 1 and 2 receive weekly homework. This homework can be completed in your child's home learning book or on the online home learning platform - ClassDogo. Please speak to a member of your child's teaching team if support is needed with homework.
Weekly Tasks
Daily reading
Please encourage your child to read at least three or four times a week in order to foster a love of reading. Any books, magazines, newspapers they read should be noted in the Reading Records.
Multiplication tables
As directed by their class teacher children are expected to know their year group multiplication tables and respective facts. Children need to practice at home the current multiplication/division for a weekly test.
Spellings
Your child will have a list of focus words each week that they need to practice daily. So that they understand the meanings of the words as well as how to spell them, the children should write a sentence using each word.
Alternate weekly Maths or English Homework
To consolidate your child's class learning, a piece of Maths or English homework will be set each week by their class teacher.
Additional learning challenges
Each half term, your child will receive a homework sheet detailing the optional learning challenges. If your child wishes to complete these additional pieces of homework, this will enhance their learning further.
